The peak season for the Great Wildebeest Migration is July to October, when massive herds cross the Mara River. However, the Mara has excellent wildlife year-round. The short dry season (January–March) is also great for predator sightings with fewer crowds and lower prices.

We recommend booking at least 3–6 months in advance, especially for peak migration season (July–October) when the best camps sell out quickly. For luxury fly-in camps, 6–12 months ahead is ideal. That said, we can sometimes accommodate last-minute bookings — contact us to check availability.

Yes. We require a 30% deposit to confirm your booking, with the balance due 60 days before departure. We accept bank transfers, major credit cards, and M-Pesa for Kenyan clients.

Cancellations made more than 60 days before departure receive a full refund minus a small admin fee. 30–60 days: 50% refund. Less than 30 days: no refund. We strongly recommend comprehensive travel insurance to protect your booking.

Most nationalities need a visa. Kenya and Tanzania both offer e-Visas online before travel. Kenya now also offers the ETA (Electronic Travel Authorisation). We advise all clients to check requirements for their specific passport at least 2 months before travel.

A yellow fever vaccination certificate is required if you're arriving from a yellow fever endemic country. It's also recommended for most travellers to the region. Check current requirements with your doctor or travel clinic.

Yes! We specialise in cross-border safaris. Your guide handles all border paperwork. You'll need both countries' visas — Tanzania is not included in the Kenya ETA, so separate entry documentation is required.

Yes, malaria is present in the safari regions of Kenya and Tanzania. We strongly recommend consulting a travel health clinic before your trip for up-to-date anti-malaria medication advice. Use DEET-based insect repellent, sleep under mosquito nets, and wear long sleeves at dusk. Most luxury lodges have excellent mosquito controls in place.

East Africa safaris are very safe when conducted by a licensed operator. All our vehicles are well-maintained 4WD safari jeeps with experienced, certified guides. We follow all park safety protocols and maintain 24/7 emergency contacts. We have been operating safely for 15+ years.

In addition to yellow fever (if required), we recommend being up-to-date on: Hepatitis A & B, Typhoid, Tetanus, and Rabies (if you'll be in remote areas). Consult a travel health specialist 6–8 weeks before departure.

All our guides carry first-aid kits and are trained in wilderness first aid. For serious emergencies, Kenya and Tanzania have medical evacuation services. We recommend purchasing travel insurance that includes medical evacuation coverage.

Pack neutral, earth-toned clothing (khaki, olive, beige, brown). Avoid bright colours and white. Layers are key — mornings and evenings can be cold (7–12°C / 45–54°F) while afternoons are warm. Include a lightweight waterproof jacket, sun hat, sunglasses, and closed-toe shoes or boots.

A DSLR or mirrorless camera with a telephoto zoom lens (200–500mm) is ideal. Bring extra memory cards and batteries — there may be limited charging opportunities on mobile camps. A beanbag for stabilising shots on the vehicle roof is a great tip from our guides.

Most scheduled light aircraft flights within Kenya and Tanzania have a strict 15kg (33lb) total baggage limit including carry-on, in a soft-sided bag only (no hard-shell cases). International flight luggage can be stored at our Nairobi office. We'll send you a full packing list upon booking.

The Big Five refers to the five animals historically considered the most difficult to hunt on foot: lion, leopard, elephant, Cape buffalo, and rhinoceros. All five can be found in Kenya and Tanzania, though rhino sightings are rarest (Ngorongoro Crater and Ol Pejeta Conservancy are the best locations).

The Great Wildebeest Migration is a year-round event — around 1.5 million wildebeest, 400,000 zebra, and 200,000 gazelle move in a circular route across the Serengeti and Masai Mara. The famous dramatic Mara River crossings happen between July and October. We'll plan your dates to maximise your chances.

Night drives are permitted in private conservancies bordering the Maasai Mara (such as Mara North and Olare Motorogi). They are not permitted inside national parks. Night drives offer the chance to spot nocturnal animals: leopards, civets, aardvarks, genets, and more.

Most of our camps and lodges welcome children aged 6 and above. Some exclusive camps have minimum age limits of 12. Family safaris are one of our specialities — we pace game drives for younger attention spans and include fun, educational wildlife activities.
